Previous Announcements

  • December 18 2009 - CMLA is pleased to announce that on 1 Jan 2010 it will effect a further reduction of the Client Adopter Production Key and Certificate Issuance Fee, in addition to the fee reduction that was previously announced on 17 Mar 2009. Each CMLA Client Adopter placing an order on or later than 1 Jan 2010 for Production Device Credentials will be entitled to this new fee reduction. As before, this fee structure is based on the cumulative key purchase volume that a given Client Adopter has achieved.

    This change is reflected in the latest version of the Client Adopter Agreement, Version 1.6-20091218, Exhibit C, Section 4.1 "Client Adopter Key and Certificate Issuance Fees". The final version is now available for download. This version supersedes all previous versions. Beginning 1 Jan 2010 the new fees are as follows:
    The Client Adopter Key and Certificate Issuance Fee is a cumulative tiered per unit fee for CMLA Key Pairs and Certificates:
    •                 1 - 100,000,000 keys = 5.00 ¢ per Key Pair & Certificate
    • 100,000,001 - 200,000,000 keys = 4.00 ¢ per Key Pair & Certificate
    • 200,000,001 - 300,000,000 keys = 3.00 ¢ per Key Pair & Certificate
    • 300,000,001 - 400,000,000 keys = 2.00 ¢ per Key Pair & Certificate
    •            400,000,001 keys and up = 1.00 ¢ per Key Pair & Certificate
    Please communicate this change to your procurement personnel to effect this change on all new key orders beginning 1 Jan 2010. If you need to confirm your cumulative key purchases, please contact us.

    CMLA Client Adopters are not required to replace their existing CMLA Agreement with this new version. Your current CMLA Client Adopter Agreement is still effective.
  • November 9 2009 - CMLA has updated the CMLA Service Provider Agreement to version 1.3-20091103. It is now available now for download.
    The changes in this version include:
    • Reduce or eliminate some categories of fees in Exhibit C. The fee structure is also simplified for ease of understanding.
    • Change of corporate name from Matsushita Electric Industrial Co., Ltd to Panasonic Corporation.These changes are effective immediately. This version supersedes all previous versions.
  • November 9 2009 - CMLA has updated the CMLA Client Adopter Agreement to version 1.5-20091103. It is now available now for download.
    The changes in this version include:
    • Reduce or eliminate some categories of fees in Exhibit C. The fee structure is also simplified for ease of understanding.
    • Change of corporate name from Matsushita Electric Industrial Co., Ltd to Panasonic Corporation.These changes are effective immediately. This version supersedes all previous versions.
  • November 9 2009 - CMLA has updated the CMLA Technical Specification to Version 1.3-20091104. It is now available now for download.
    The changes in this version include:
    • Updated footnotes to include patent information.
    • New Chapter 16 added for Content Protection Technology System Renewability Message (CPT-SRM). Please note use of this Chapter is at the licensees option.
  • May 8 2009 - CMLA has completed the updates to the Mobile Broadcast Addendums and Technical Specification as discussed with licensees in our most recent CMLA Advisory Board meeting. The following versions of these documents are available now for download and execution. CMLA Technology Licensees must meet the requirements of these updates within one hundred eighty (180) days of this Notice.
    The revised documents include:
    • Mobile Broadcast Addendum to CMLA Client Adopter Agreement v1.10-20090428
    • Mobile Broadcast Addendum to CMLA Service Provider Agreement v1.10-20090428
    • CMLA Technical Specification v1.2-20090219
  • April 7 2009 - This notice is to inform you that the CMLA Client Adopter Compliance and Robustness Rule changes presented and approved during the last CMLA Advisory Board Meeting, held in September 2008, have been now incorporated into the CMLA Client Adopter Agreement. These changes are found in Exhibit B. Please find enclosed current version 1.4 of the CMLA Client Adopters Agreement, which supersedes all previous versions of the CMLA Compliance and Robustness Rules.

    Pursuant to Section 3 of the CMLA Client Adopter Agreement (specifically Section 3.7, 3.12), Client Adopter is hereby notified that all CMLA Technology Licensees shall comply with version 1.4 of the CMLA Client Adopter Agreement Compliance and Robustness Rules no later than eighteen (18) months from the date of this notice, April 7, 2009. Please contact CMLA Services if you any questions or concerns regarding this notice.
  • March 17 2009 - CMLA is now able to effect a Client Adopter Key and Certificate Issuance Fee reduction. This reduction is based on the cumulative key purchase volume of a given Client Adopter.

    This change will be reflected in the next revision of the Client Adopter Agreement, Version 1.3, Attachment C, Section 3.3 "Client Adopter Key and Certificate Issuance Fees" as follows:

    • The Client Adopter Key and Certificate Issuance Fee is a cumulative tiered per unit fee for CMLA Key Pairs and Certificates.
      • 1 to 200,000,000 keys       6.50 ¢ per Key Pair & Certificate
      • 200,000,001 keys and up   3.00 ¢ per Key Pair & Certificate
    Please communicate this change to your procurement personnel to effect this change immediately on new key orders where the cumulative key purchases for your company have exceeded 200,000,000 keys. If you need to confirm your cumulative key purchases, please contact us.
  • January 28 2009 - CMLA has updated the CMLA Technical Specification to Version 1.1 - 20090123. It is available now for download. The changes in this version include:
    1. Updated dates associated with moving the timeline for a key length change from 2009 to 2011. This in effect moves the key length decision two years into the future.
    2. Removal of statements concerning confidentiality of this Technical Specification. An NDA is no longer necessary for access to the complete specification.
    3. Replacement of "Draft with "Approved" status of this document
    4. Other minor editorial corrections
  • December 1 2008 - OMA has now given final approval of the OMA DRM version 2.1. Subsequently, CMLA announces that it now supports the OMA DRM v 2.1 as well. The agreements currently in place with adopters now include this support without amendment.
  • August 25 2008 - CMLA announced that it is supporting the OMA DRM Version 2.0.1.

  • August 25 2008 - CMLA announced that it no longer requires an NDA for download of the complete CMLA Technical Specification. The complete CMLA Technical Specification is now available under <Licensing>, <Specifications>, <CMLA Technical Specification>

  • December 19 2007 - To support Service Provider’s use of the Production online system as they complete their service validation trials using this system, CMLA suspends the obligation of Service Providers to pay fees on the first 2000 Active Subscribers using the Production online system and/or for a period of six months from the time a first Active Subscriber makes a request of the Production online system, whichever condition comes first. To effect this change CMLA will revise the Service Provider Agreement Exhibit C on Fees with the next revision of this agreement. Please note that CMLA provides the Development online system for all development activities and discourages use of the Production online system for anything other than use by end-users.

  • November 1 2007 - CMLA refreshes the CMLA website

  • January 25 2007 - CMLA provides the enclosed description (Device Configuration ) as clarification of the acceptability of CMLA devices having both Production and Development credentials on the same device.

  • December 20 2006 - The updated CMLA Mobile Broadcast Addendums are available for download. See 1) the CMLA Mobile Broadcast Addendum for Client Adopters and 2) the CMLA Mobile Broadcast Addendum for Service Providers on the (CMLA Documents page).

  • November 25 2006 - The public comment period on the CMLA Mobile Broadcast Amendments has closed. CMLA has received feedback on these documents and is processing this feedback expeditiously. CMLA would like to thank all of those who have submitted comments, suggestions and feedback throughout the process of drafting the Mobile Broadcast Amendments. Look for further notification on these amendments in the very near future.

  • August 25 2006 - CMLA is extending it's support to include the Mobile Broadcast marketplace. To this end CMLA is now presenting for public comment the CMLA agreements that enable this extension. The agreements are 1) the CMLA Mobile Broadcast Addendum for Client Adopters and 2) the CMLA Mobile Broadcast Addendum for Service Providers ( CMLA Documents page ). CMLA will hold the comment period open for 30 days and conclude on December 22, 2006. After comments are addressed and appropriate modifications incorporated CMLA will shortly thereafter make the final agreements available for adoption.   • July 20 2006 - CMLA is as of September 20, 2006 revising the Service Provider fee structure in Exhibit C of the Service Provider Agreement, Section 3.3, Service Provider Key and Certificate Issuance Fees by adding new increments to the beginning of the fees table as follows. As of this date, any report of Active Subscribers by licensees will use this new structure. This change will be reflected in the next amendment to the SP agreement.   • May 1 2006 - CMLA has on June 15, 2006, made available the Revision 1.1 Amendments to the CAA, SPA and CPA agreements for adoption by current licensees. CMLA will also make available on July 22, 2006 the CAA, SPA and CPA Revision 1.1 Agreements for adoption by new licensees.

  • March 2 2006 - As of August 2005, CMLA is fully operational and is receiving and delivering both development and production key/certificate orders.

  • December 25 2005 - Technical Specification has been updated to Version 1.0 and is available for download. See Tech Spec change history.
